Let’s start off again at the point with these no licensed untrained people coming to your home and giving an inspection on your home, I will disclose here that you may very well get a proper inspection. The odds of that happening is very slim. I must also disclose that I have inspected over 25,000 homes for roof damage over the past 10 years. So I have see every type of adjuster that is out there from a professional to an adjuster that hands me his camera and lets me take the pictures for him.
Your odds of getting a proper inspection is about 20% in the homeowners favor. These are facts not an opinion.
So lets look at one side of this, you have been wrongfully denied for your roof. What do you do? You have several options here, most are not what you are going to want to do.
- Call the insurance company and complain that you feel that the inspection was not done properly and point out the fact that three roofing professional inspected your roof and said that you do indeed have roof damage wind and hail. This call to action will get you no where. The insurance company has your premiums and do not care what you think.
- Complain the the North Carolina Department of Insurance? Good luck with that !! Our Department of Insurance does not care !! Legally the Department of Insurance has to forward your complaint to the insurance company involved and demand a reply from them. That IS ALL that you will get from the Department of Insurance. The Department of Insurance is supposed to look for applicability to and against your policy to see if the insurance companies are following the law and your policy, but they don’t even do that. The Department of Insurance will tell you that this is all that they can do but it is a direct lie. After this the Department of Insurance will tell you that you need to get an attorney.
- Since the North Carolina Department of Insurance does not under any circumstances do it’s job properly your only other option is to get an attorney.
